You Don’t Look Like a Cyclist

This is true. I don’t. I’m not young. I’m not slim. I don’t look strong. I don’t have fancy gear. But, I cycle, sometimes a lot.

I have been inspired greatly by Fat Girl Running, and she recently posted this blog post about being disrespected in stores selling running shoes because she doesn’t look like a runner. I am linking it here so I can remember her post and think about it.

I am still thinking about my upcoming tour and what it will mean – hopefully inspiring other senior women, solo women, and now thinking about her post, maybe I can inspire women of every shape and size. Why says you have to be slim to do things? Look at her, running ultra marathons at 240 pounds!

I’m not cycling a lot at the moment though. We seem to be having epic winds with gusts 50+ mph. Even the locals are saying these are some of the strongest winds they remember, and they are a month earlier than expected also. What is going to come in March, usually the month of the strongest winds?

Today I got out there but not much. I put in about 6 miles doing some errands and it was hard coming home into the headwinds but not as bad as I feared. I need to get out there, wind or no wind because I don’t think the wind is going to stop for me. Mirna’s post was just what I needed to get me more motivated. Thank you Fat Girl Running.
