Tomorrow is the day! I read somewhere that the hardest part of the tour is when you pedal away from your warm and comfortable home base. I am thinking about that right now as I left my tent for this warm and comfortable couch indoors. But, I think I am ready to go.
I am very happy to report that the sleeping arrangements are greatly improved. I exchanged my sleeping bag for one rated for 20 degrees and this made a huge difference. I have spent two nights in it, two warm and much more comfortable nights. I also got a set of thermal underwear which I think helps as well. Now I think my biggest challenge will be emerging into the chilly mornings. I may be on the bike at sunup just to keep warm!
Today I have a few small nonessential errands, and I plan to pack, a practice run of putting everything on the bike. The rest of the time I will be with my family and playing with the baby.
We have had some absolutely gorgeous weather here the last couple days, and there are spring flowers everywhere you look. I will leave you all for now with some photos I have snapped around town. After this I will be on the road but I will do my best to keep you all posted on my progress and experiences.

Thank you! I plan to stop at Belfair state park. From here it’s around 10 miles to the Seattle ferry dock, then ferry to Bremerton, and I think less than 20 miles from there to the park and camping. The next day my destination is Elma, maybe 40 miles. Centralia is around 40 miles more for the next day, and then we’ll see depending on how it’s going.
